Indication has emerged that the Nigerian Women Association Verona For Reintegration (NWA) with bases in Nigeria and Italy and the Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM) would work together to promote campaigns against irregular migration both in the nation and overseas.

NWA led by its Europe based President; Dr Oluwakemi Victoria Ajibola on Thursday sponsored a mobilization and strategic campaign against irregular migration at the popular Igando Market in Lagos State.
Dr Oluwakemi during a chat at the event admonished the Nigerian youths to shun unplanned journeys and antics of human traffickers destroying especially the future of potential Nigerians adding that her organization looked forward to working with the JIFORM.
The event drew attention of large numbers of the market men and women and their leaders with the scores of the NWA members adorning branded t-shirts during the road show.
The NWA leader while addressing the press advised the youths to be mindful of the deceit of the human traffickers aimed at to lure them abroad into slavery and sex trafficking under the guise of assisting them to seek greener pasture and urged them to report any suspicious moves to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and other agencies for proper attention.
Responding, Dr jibola Abayomi, said the proposed collaboration or partnership with the NWA was a welcome development that would be considered for both local and foreign engagementS in due course.
He said over the years JIFORM had been working on migration issues with over 300 journalists spread across the continents and would be ready to do the needful to strengthen campaigns against irregular migration.
On her part, Mrs Abosede Mary Otukpe, the Coordinator of the NWA said the group considered it extremely important to counsel the public against the menaces of irregular migration because thousands of Nigerians were being affected.
“It is high time the parents know that traffickers are on the lookout for whom to be cajoled into the net of human trafficking. These people would tell you all sorts of stories just to deceive you that you are being taken abroad whereas they are slave drivers that are purely plotting to take you in into slavery, sex trading and undue domestic servitude.
“Please be informed that travelling through the desert, the Mediterranean Sea and other unapproved routes is dangerous and inimical to your development.’
A concerned market woman, Mrs Bose Alonge called on the government to urgently arrest those placing adverts to deceive Nigerians into slavery abroad.
She argued that the step would go a long way to stall the antics of human traffickers in the country.
